my current favorite addresses in london

by anne-marie leduc

Marylebone High St

is one of my favorite streets in London. I always kick off my day trip with a visit to the gourmet grocery store Bayley & Sage for their Crosbies bars, which are out of this world. Once the Crosbies are secured, the shopping extravaganza can begin. Marylebone Street boasts some of the best stores in my opinion: Lululemon for durable activewear, Matches Fashion for top-of-the-line fashion finds, Mejuri for reasonably priced jewelry, The White Company for everything cozy living, including cashmere, and much more. The street is also dotted with charming restaurants, inviting pubs, and a cinema, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy.

paul rothe & son

My favorite lunch spot in this area is run by the same family since 1900. This deli specializes in freshly made sandwiches and soup and is one of London's oldest delicatessens. There is always a lineup, but it's absolutely worth the wait.

Ottolenghi

Just take a look at this photo... This stylish and highly praised café offers breakfast and rotating lunch menus, as well as delightful treats like fruit tarts and cakes. They have several locations throughout London, but I particularly enjoy the ones in Notting Hill and Marylebone.

toteme

For those familiar with this beautiful Scandinavian brand, they recently opened a store on Mount Street. The interior is stunning, and the area is magnificent for a leisurely stroll.

liberty

This department store is truly unique. Despite always being bustling with crowds, Liberty is my favorite store in London. Housed in a Tudor-inspired structure, it offers high-end fashion, luxury home goods, and its own line of fabrics. Even if just for window shopping, it's worth a visit for the aesthetic alone.

the british museum

I recently visited the British Museum, and I'm definitely planning to go back for multiple visits. It's gigantic and incredibly interesting. My favorite section was the mummy exhibit. Plus, the fact that entry to the museum is free is definitely a bonus. The only downside was that there were far too many people, which made it feel suffocating at times. I had to leave at one point. I recommend checking popular times on Google before choosing a time or date, but overall, it's a fabulous place.

amie wine studio

Amie is the perfect retreat for a relaxed afternoon, enjoying a chilled glass of rosé after exploring London's bustling streets. Located in the fashionable Eccleston Yard in Belgravia, this stylish venue is great for socializing. The area's charm makes it a lovely place to visit. Every detail of this wine studio is enchanting, making it the ideal spot for a rosé break.

dishoom

The notion that London lacks great food is such an outdated claim. In 2023, things have evolved, and some of the top chefs and restaurants are found in this big city. There are so many restaurants on my list to try, and I cannot wait. Dishoom is our go-to spot when in London, and it never disappoints. London offers some of the best Indian cuisine that is hard to find elsewhere, such as Paris. I've only tried the one in Shoreditch, but they have other locations around the city. Absolutely delicious and the atmosphere is very fun!

nightjar shoreditch

Speakeasy-inspired by America's Prohibition-era bars of the 1920s and early 1930s, with live music and expertly crafted cocktails. I recommend making a reservation ahead of time, especially during a live band set. You can check their website for upcoming events. A perfect venue for a date night or an evening out with friends.

electric cinema portobello

This has been on my bucket list for quite some time now. I really need to step up and plan ahead to secure a spot at this theater. The cinema looks incredibly cool and fun.
